Nar-Anon Chat™

My brother pops in and out of our lives and has just reconnected after a five year absence. He is addicted to alcohol, gambling and drugs. His most recent drug is crystal meth. He has serious mental illness which may or may not have been caused by the drug use but is definitely exasperated by it. It is also the first time he has experienced being homeless. He is currently on the psychiatric ward, his third involuntary stay since Feb. It is hard to believe he has survived to age 60, but the current outlook is bleak. I attended an al-anon meeting this week because I needed to gain some perspective, understanding and coping skills. I am hoping that this forum will help with this as well.
